BREAKOUT SESSIONS

1st Impressions Matter!  A first impression, typically made in the first 10 seconds of meeting someone, can impact your ability to obtain employment, both positively and negatively. This interactive session will provide an opportunity to identify and practice communication skills needed to make the best first impression. Participants will engage in role playing activities utilizing skills employers seek in job applicants. The importance of enthusiasm, attitude, nonverbal and verbal communication will be emphasized.

Problem Solving on the Job.  Working on a team can be both a positive and negative experience for people. While some enjoy the opportunity to collaborate, others find it difficult to appropriately engage in group problem solving. This interactive session will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in small group activities, aimed at demonstrating appropriate teamwork and problem solving skills. The importance of professionalism, cooperation, and critical thinking will be emphasized.

Role Playing Sessions to engage job seekers in understanding what to do and what not to do in an interview or on the job.
