Webinar Social Media Safety: Key Considerations for Supporting Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
With the advent of social media new realities have surfaced. There is a dire need to support continued attention and education to ensure positive mental health outcomes and well-being for those engaging in social media use. For children, adolescents, and even adult populations with intellectual and developmental disabilities social media may be a unique way to connect with the world. However, it is essential to ensure safety through key considerations to prevent online predation, exploitation, harassment, and cyberbullying. This webinar will discuss the prevalence, predictors, and cautions of adverse social media experiences. Information and strategies concerning safety will be discussed with a special focus on how to promote safe outcomes when engaging in social media use.
