Heart Health for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
This webinar explores the increased risk of heart disease in individuals with IDD, how heart disease affects this population, why risks are higher, and what can be done to prevent it. We will explore the unique challenges faced by individuals with IDD when it comes to heart health and examine contributing risk factors, and how heart disease may present differently in people with IDD.
Participants will also gain practical strategies for promoting heart health in individuals with IDD, including lifestyle modifications, accessible health education, and the importance of coordinated care. Whether you're a caregiver, healthcare provider, educator, or advocate, this session will provide essential insights and tools to help improve cardiovascular outcomes in individuals with IDD.
